Your Budget
Most La Mama shows are made on a shoestring budget, and with designs that are able to find power in simplicity. For that reason we encourage all makers to stick within the production budgets that we provide to each show prior to your season. Doing so will be much less stressful and will train your team in the art of stretching a few hundred dollars a very long way. Importantly, too, we expect that the door takings from your production will be split equitably between cast and crew.
There are, of course, additional funding pathways that you can pursue through the Australian Council For the Arts, Creative Victoria, City of Melbourne, and other funding and philanthropic bodies.
If you would like to talk through your budget or have financial queries, please contact Caitlin Dullard (caitlin@lamama.com.au)

Looking for Cast or Crew?
If you don’t yet have your whole team, and you’re not sure what to do about it, the best thing to do is to come along to our shows and make connections. You might see a performer who catches your eye, or have the chance to chat after the performance with the designer whose lights or sound or sets or costumes blew you away. If you’re not in Melbourne or can’t find the time to visit, give us a call or send an email to info@lamama.com.au and tell us who and what you’re looking for, and our staff might be able to point you in the right direction.

Sustainability checklist for Artists
As a theatre that has always stimulated both visionary conversations and practical action, La Mama is committed to reducing our environmental impact and setting an example in our community with our energy use and waste management practices.
Content Warnings
La Mama is experiencing a range of different positions from artists and companies about content warnings.
This is a complex and important discussion within the theatre and broader community and we are trying to find a way forward that supports our audiences while valuing the different timelines and allowing for approaches of all our artists.
